HELPING HAITI - Helping through Donations








Just a few organizations of the many that want to help.  Great to be part of this growing team. Please add to the list.  Help can be in the form of a letter (see Roots and Shoots note) as well as buying a single chocolate bar, donating at work or supporting companies that want to help.  The support is TRULY amazing.


DONATIONS TO The Red Cross http://www.redcross.org/

Target Corp – cash donation and working with nonprofits to make and send 1 million meals
Best Buy Co – cash donation to Red Cross and one to Mercy Corps for technology and infrastructure rebuilding in Haiti
Indianapolis Motor Speedway - Offered online and retail options to help the Red Cross

General Mills – cash donation to RED CROSS and CARE International

US Bancrop – cash donation and urging employee donations to match funds they contribute


The Mosaic Co. donated cash to 4 organisation: American Refugee committee, Canadian Red Cross, American Red Cross and International Red Cross and will also match employee contributions

Michael Waltrip offered his plane to fly a team to Fort Piece in Florida so that a miliatry flight could take the team to Haiti's capital. –

Cargill In – cash donation and the World Food Programme.  Company volunteers are also packaging and sending meals to the country.


UnitedHealth Group Inc – donated cash and will also match employee contributions

 Auto Club Speedway took part in Hope for Haiti donation drive collecting drive through donations

Gazette and Rotary clubs are partnering to raise money to help relief efforts in Haiti.  Checks made to the Rotary Foundation of Gaston County Inc. may be mailed to P.O. Box 33, Gastonia NC 28053. Put Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund for U.S. Rotarians in the memo portion of the check.

Among the American and global names to send help for nutrition — Cargill, ConAgra Foods, Hormel Foods, Yum Brands (owners of KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut), and even McDonald’s — all have pledged funds to provide emergency aid. 


JANE GOODALL -  Roots & Shoots National Youth Leadership Council, ask you to join them in sending messages of hope to the children and youth of Haiti.
